Abstract The impact of community-based learning programs on adult education in urban areas is a critical area of study, especially in developing regions. This study aimed to examine how community-based learning initiatives affect adult education outcomes, specifically in Lagos, Nigeria. The objectives were to determine the effectiveness of these programs in enhancing educational attainment, to assess their role in fostering lifelong learning, and to explore their influence on community engagement. Utilizing a survey research design, this study justified the approach by highlighting the need for comprehensive data on adult learners' experiences and outcomes within community-based settings. The sample size consisted of 250 adult learners, selected through purposive sampling to ensure participants had direct experience with community-based learning programs. The case study focused on several community centers in Lagos, known for their robust educational initiatives. Findings revealed that community-based learning programs significantly improved educational attainment among adults, encouraged ongoing learning, and enhanced community involvement. Recommendations included increasing funding for such programs, integrating them into broader educational policies, and promoting their benefits to attract more adult learners.
